Peter,
I know I can answer number 3, This is most likely a condenser that was
added after the fact for radio noise suppression. US type cars (the older
ones) had them installed almost without exception.
As far as number 4 goes, If you've replaced the points plate and all the
guts of the Distributor you were going to have to re-do the timing anyway,
now you just have a better reason to. If it was only three or four
degrees the engine should still run, The instructions (not having a
Pertronix I don't know for sure) should talk about initial timing and then
what to do for final timing.
If you did not have a ballast resistor on the car before you started
ignore everything that says "ballasted" system. If you're really brave
Xerox the instruction and then take a big felt marker and "XXX" anything
that says ballast. Notice how brave I am, I use a copy to make changes
Good Luck
Steve

Hey All,
So, I've studied the article in Moss' British Motoring...complete with
step-by-step instructions on installing a Pertronix Ignitor electronic
ignition adapter in (of all things) a TR6! Everything went easily enough
until I went to hook up the red wire to the positive side of the coil...
Questions.
#1 It seems I'm adding another wire to the (+)side of the coil. If so, I
guess I'll need to add another spade lug connector onto the
terminal...true?
#2 One wire on the (+) side of the coil goes to a UIP (Unidentified
Installed Part). Can't find it in the TRF exploded parts diagrams,
Bentley or Haynes. It's a little baby-blue colored plastic canister the
diameter of a nickel, and about an inch long. The thing appears to be
connected to the coil bracket. What is it??
#3 The Pertronix Ignitor has different directions for ballasted ignition
systems compared to those without a ballast resistor. I can't seem to
tell what I have, or where that resistor would be!
#4 While installing the Pertronix Ignitor adapter kit, the whole
distributor housing rotated 3 or 4 degrees. I was HORRIFIED! I thought
that thing should have been clamped TIGHT! True? NOW what do I do?
Leave it to me to hose the simplest of things.
Thanx in advance for your help.
Pete
