Oh great and all knowing list.
The PO had my diff rebuilt. It seems to be operating fine, it just leaks
like a sieve. Not everywhere, just the pinion seal, shaft seals, and gasket.
The Bentley makes seal replacement look straight forward, pretty much just
unbolt, remove seals, install new seals, tighten bolts. Is this true? I
thought I remembered some mention on the list about crushable preload
spacers on the later diffs that require special technique to adjust. Mine is
a '74.
