Hi List,
well, all things being equal, today's the day to remove the gearbox, flywheel,
and replace the ring gear (chewed-up teeth) and the clutch pad and plate
(clutch only because gearbox is out...).
Out in the quiet this AM, getting a mental read of everything. A couple of
items came to mind. I have some pedal-slop on the clutch pedal, probably 30
years of unlubricated use. I just read Bentley on removing the pedal
assembly ( is there an easier, better way than this ?) and wondered -
1 - are there bushings available if the holes are worn bigger?
2 - any aftermarket fixes out there?
3 - has anyone bodged an adjustable nit into the rod mechanism, to obtain
optimum throw.
4 - Same question, on the slave unit rod. If I remember, total throw should
be .5 inch..
5 - Bentley says allow .025 clearance for Ring-gear to flywheel hub. Is this
absolute or is pretty-close good enough?
6 - any known issues with the aftermarket reduction geared starters? any
better, easy equivalents out there?
Thanks -- oh yes, I will go through Buckeye before I bugger up anything....
