Greetings, one and all:
I am new to this digest, but have received others and I must say this is the
most professional and knowledgeable that I have seen! I look forward to
reading this daily. I don't have a TR6 'yet' but it seems that I may inherit
one this year. My father in law wants to give me his as he is losing garage
space and interest. This is a huge bonus for me as I have always wanted one.
The only thing that I am apprehensive about is the drive; from Boston to
Oregon! Mechanically, the car is in great shape as he rebuilt it about 6
years ago, but wow what a trip to take. I need a list of items that I should
bring for possible emergencies (like a light switch and a heater valve :D)
so any advice will be welcomed. Also, I am considering making this car my
daily driver. Right now I am a BMW fan, and drive a great 78 320i that makes
the 3 miles to work just fine with no adverse wear on the engine. Will this
short trip twice a day be hard on the 2.5 liter engine? It probably won't be
warmed up by the time I get to work/home, and I worry that it may not be
designed for that type of driving.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give, and I have enjoyed browsing
some of your websites and reading about your trials and tribulations with
this car. It's also quite nice not to see endless discussions about
amplifiers and subwoofers!
Cheers,
John McDonald
