FWIW I still consider my car an investment even though I have no intention of
selling. At least I can participate in my hobby and have some indication that
there is some tangible value there. Last month I got my IRA statement and I
lost $4,000 on a $55,000 investment from the previous month. It was north of 6
figures before the crash. Even if the car market disappears completely you can
still work on and drive your LBC so there is more utility there than from the
paper I get from my broker. YMMV.
