I definitely have experience with this. Go with the metal shims and put
silicone lubricant on them. I first put in the fiber ones. Got rid of the
squeal for a while, then it came back. When I pulled the pads off to install
the metal shims, I saw that the fiber ones had fallen off. After about 2000
miles, not a peep with the metal shims.
