Hi,

I was going to hold off on this one, but here goes...

I have had u-joint failures. These were bearing failures and it was pretty
clear that the problem was that thegrease never got to the cups. I did
some measuring and found that there were some variances in the thickness
of the clips that hold the cups in! Some of the clips were so thick that
when you installed them, the joint was TIGHT..

If you have this situation, you can "shave" the clips (take a little from
each opposite side's clips) by snading them on a flat surface. You don't
need to take a lot off, .001 on each clip is .002 total.

Another way to tell if the clips are too tight is when you grease the
joint. You should get lubricant flowing from all 4 cups, not just one or
two.

If your u-joints failed because they cracked, then I can't help you.

regards,
rml
