Help, listers!
Out on the toll road last friday, running 2800 rpm, smooth and great, when
something lets go and engine runs really rough 'til I pull to the shoulder
and shut down. No loud metallic noises. Sounds like a blown gasket or
something similar. I was on my way to a local TR expert to get something else
fixed, so I swallowed hard and had it flatbedded to the workshop. (25 miles.)
The mechanic immeditely found that one cylinder was blowing back though the
front carb.
Further inspection uncovers good compression all round; no valve damage; no
rocker damage; one broken and two bent pushrods. Only 500 miles on the
rebuild.
Should I suspect:
1. Bad batch of push rods
2. Valve springs too strong or wrong size
3. Frday 13th.
I request your combined analytical brilliance.
