I am having a similar problem as the one below. I recently changed my tranny
in my 73 TR-6 to a J-type with OD. Since that time my speedometer is way off
reading low. Right know I have the speedo cable connected right to the
tranny, not going thru an angle bracket. The J-type was freshly rebuilt when
I put it in but I don't know it's origin, ie; what vehicle it came out of.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I ran mine for several years without an angle drive. You have to reroute
the cable to get enough slack to connect it directly. I don't have an
extra, but they commonly appear on ebay. I believe the ones for MGB's are
the same, but watch out for angle drives that have internal gearing that
would change the speedometer reading.
