Dear listers:

I recently posted a message about my passenger side window not operating
smoothly. The consensus was that I have a bad regulator. It winds up OK, but
when coming down, it comes down in 2 or 3 inch steps. It feels like the
regulator is getting ahead of the window, then the window drops a little
bit, then the regulator gets ahead again. This keeps up until the window is
down. I took the window, regulator, and channels out. The regulator seems to
work OK on the bench. How can I tell if it's bad?

The felt is almost gone on the channels so I thought this could be the
problem. However, I compared them to the drivers side channels, and they
look just as bad. (Drivers window works OK). Since the channels are out, I
thought I'd replace the felt. I remember someone on the list saying that
they just replaced it with heavy felt. Will this work OK? What remains of
the original looks more like a very short brush seal. What's the recommended
adhesive?

Only the tattered remains of the water curtains remained in either door. I
suspect that this isn't unusual. What purpose do/did they serve?

Thanks in advance
