and a related question -- does the squeeze-on anti-squeal stuff that comes
in a tube do anything? or how about the Teflon shims (which I presume are in
addition to, not a substitute for, the "factory" shims that John is
referring to that hang from the pins?)

thanks all.

Subject: Question about front brake caliper shims

List,
My front brakes are squealing when I use the brakes. I removed the pads
and the shims that I have are about .015" thick and half moon shaped
with the half moon portion towards the front of the car. Also there is a
arrow cut into the shim. Along with this shim there is a piece of .005
alum. shim stock that was glued to the pad behind the half moon shim.
The alum shim is all worn out where it contacted the piston.
I have a anti-squeal kit that I got from TRF quite awhile ago that is
the correct part# GISP2750, it has a rectangular shim that hangs from
the pins and is .015 thick. This shim is about 1 1/2 " tall and covers
about the top 4/5ths of the piston
My question is do I use both the half moon shims along with the shim
kit? Or do I just use the shim kit alone?
By the way my calipers are marked 16BP.
Thanks in advance
