Well it just isn't that they spin faster, they produce more torque as well.
This allows them to turn your engine over more easily, resulting in quicker
starts... of course, I've never had a problem with a sound Lucas starter.
The gear reduction units are also lighter in overall weight, smaller in
physical size, and draw less current.
They'd be suitable if you're running some obscenely larger static
compression ratio (like 12:1+), if you're looking to save a few pounds up
front, or again looking to save weight by using a smaller class battery in
conjunction with the gear reduction starter. In other words, the greatest
benefits they will provide are for the racers among us.
