Hi Peter,

I obviously didn't read your email very thoroughly regarding..... "the
engine makes horrible noises." I would play with the timing and be sure
to keep the idle between 800 and 1000. I have a 73 with the anti-run-on
valve non-operational and it shuts down fine. I currently have the
vacuum retard connected. Th biggest reason it is connected at all is
that the idle is good where it is and I am too lazy to adjust the idle
lower when I disconnected the retard. The problem I previously described
on my TR6 is such that it runs just fine for a second or two after I
switch off the key before it kills the ignition. Again, my problem is
intermittent and I suspect a faulty spring or gummed up keyswitch
mechanism.
