If the oil level isn't the culprit, check for electrical problems.
Turn the engine off, but leave the ignition on. Select third gear and
hit the o/d switch. You should hear a click coming from the tranny
area, this would be the solenoid. You may also hear a fainter click
coming from the relay (under the dash or in the engine compartment). If
the solenoid isn't clicking, you've got electrical problems.
