RE: Steering housing

I'm not a steering expert, and you don't mention what car you have, but
if it's a '71 or newer TR6 there is a clip that fits between the halves
of the ignition module.

Help, steering experts!

On the upper housing, I have a metal "clip", about 1/2" broad and 3/32" 
thick, that goes 270 degrees around the housing.

Where do it go, and what do it do?
