I follow the directions you outlined. I can show you the tears that
happen when you don't The PO put them in the top.

Quite possibly a dumb question, but do most of you follow the
instructions in the owner's manual and pull the fabric towards the
rear while lowering the top and then fold the fabric back over the
frame, or do you just put it down without touching the fabric and let
it fold however it wants to?
