Dan,

What you can try is to remove the air filter assembly and pump the gas. If
fuel is pissing out of the carb...It could be that your bowl switch is
jammed. What happens is that when the bowl is full of fuel, the float bowl
will rise and a switch will stop the fuel from filling the bowl. Maybe the
switch is jammed and fuel keeps flowing out of the carb.
I had the same problem and the good folks on the list helped me fix the
problem.

Good luck,

Patrick

I need help. I had my 71 TR6 out for a ride the other day since it was so
nice and encountered a problem shortly into my drive. I heard a sound, like
opening a bottle of soda pop, and then had a sudden loss of power, the
engine started running very rough, and had a strong smell of fuel. I drove
home, luckily a short distance, and found fuel running from the front
carburator. The fuel lines seem OK, it seems to be coming from the body of
the carb. Is that bottom seal the problem, another seal, or something else?
Dan
