Alan---It's better to keep going with the honing till the pits are removed, then polish the bore. Once you have a smooth bore, new seals should then do the job. Many have chosen to re-sleeve their original units by going to Apple Hydraulics, if you can afford to give up your car for a while. New, or rebuilt cylinders may be the most costly way of getting things right again. Since you seem to have the tools and skills to clean up your old units, give this a shot first.
