It's not hard to confuse me on any issue concerning my TR6 so it came as no
surprise when confusion ran amuck with me after a friend of mine asked me to
help him bleed his brakes and all I could determine was that there was no
shortage of air in the lines and that brake fluid became used up fast.
Here is the scenario, my friend called me yesterday and told me that he had no
breaks on his 72 TR6 and could I help him bleed the breaks, having bled breaks
on my previously owned TR6 20 years ago I considered myself an expert of this
procedure (yeah right), starting at the rear breaks I was getting clear fluid
but when going to the front I was getting mostly air mixed with fluid, no
mater how much or long we bled the front brakes I was getting a consistent
flow of air and fluid, an additional symptom was that as my buddy pumped the
brake pedal I was getting air bubbles in the brake fluid reservoir, at this
point I could come to only one conclusion that perhaps the master brake
cylinder is leaking air and that we need to rebuild the master brake
cylinder.
If anyone on the list could offer a novice any technical assistance I'll
rename my first born after them.
thanks
