Hugh, That stud secures the strap from the center of the Tonneau --- keeps it from flapping when driving with the RH seat covered. Nelson Riedel Granville Ohio '68TR250, '70TR6, '76TR6 | Now that I have the seat diaphragm replaced on the driver's side , and the | feeling has come back in my wrist, I am replacing the passenger side | diaphragm.
