I appreciate your letting me know what caused my concerns. I guess there is
little to do. It is disappointing though.

Hi John,
Bulb holders are starting to become a problem for restoration work.
The smaller plastic push in bulb holders are all that are available now.
The original metal ones are no longer available.
(In fact Lucas has sold the replacement parts end of their company to a
Jananese
firm,
so prices are going up and lines are being dropped.)
Thus our manufacturer is putting in the later style replacement bulb holder.
Bulbs for these are called "capless.".
We do stock them if you are finding them hard to find.
There are two types, one for dash and one for turn signals.
Part # LLB501 - 5 watt bulb for 614 - sidelamps - $1.25 each,
Part # LLB504 - 3 watt bulb for 614 - dash lamps - $1.25 each.
Do not put sidelamp into dash - too much heat in enclosed area.

On the larger bulb holders our manufacturer does occasionally get a batch
that
does not fit as tightly as they should.
Since there is only one manufacturer there is not much that can be done
aboult
it except relay the info back to them which we do. What most people do is
put a
spot of super glue on the metal ring to hold it in place.

Our manufacturer is constantly looking for new sources of old parts.
However if the volume is not there the parts manufacturers just drop that
part.

The only other choice is to not put an alternative bulb holder on the
harness
and tell the customers
they have to use their old ones and install them themselves.
"Lesser of too evils" problem.

We hope this helps explain the problems.
Regards, Ed.
