Thanks for posting the info on Herman's kit. FWIW, it looks EXACTLY like
the kit I purchased from conversion components in New Zealand. Even the
details of the cast bell housing look the same. As near as I can tell, the
shifter relocation casting looks the same too. The slave cylinder on the
side of the bellhousing is definitely the same.
Does Herman purchase these from NZ and then resell them? In any case, his
price is more realistic. I paid over $1K for mine.
Since I've had some time to study the NZ approach, I think there is a better
(easier) way to do the conversion with less cost. When I get unpacked from
my recent move and set up my shop, I'll get started on the project and let
you all know how it goes. My goal is to get it done for around $250 less
the trans and driveshaft modification. That should make a conversion
cheaper than a trans rebuild! Used Toyota celica boxes can be had for
around $150 - $200 in my area.
