Peter,
I've had no problem removing the trans. while the drive shaft is in place,
or the exhaust for that matter. Just remember to put something under the
engine to support the rear a jack w/ a block of wood works. Be careful not to
dent the oil pan!! Also try not to put to much stress on the input shaft of
the transmition. The clutch disc will want to hang on to the input shaft, but
a little coaxing and it will come out.

Subject: Gearbox removal
Hello everybody,
I'm busy with replacing the clutch on my '74 Tr6. I have a J type
overdrive/gearbox. First to remove the gearbox do I need to remove the
exhaust
pipes? Second is it sufficient to release the propellor shaft from the
gearbox? Or must it be removed from the car to make space for the gearbox to
be taken from the engine?
Thanks!!
Peter
