Gearbox removal

Hello everybody,
I'm busy with replacing the clutch on my '74 Tr6. I have a J type
overdrive/gearbox. First to remove the gearbox do I need to remove the exhaust
pipes? Second is it sufficient to release the propellor shaft from the
gearbox? Or must it be removed from the car to make space for the gearbox to
be taken from the engine?
