Welcome to the List. I have a '69 TR6 and I had great success rebuilding
the original Stromberg carbs. The job was fairly easy to do and all needed
parts are readily available. Before the rebuild I considered buying the
Webber carbs but, after research, found that unless the rest of your engine
is completely up to snuff the expense and engineering needed for
installation may not be wise. Others might not agree. You can rebuild your
existing carbs for a fraction of the cost of the Webbers.
You should be able to reduce your CO emissions with a rebuild. Be sure to
check the operation of the temperature compensators, jets, metering needles,
etc. which can all contribute to rich running.
