Hi,
On late model TR6's (and probably early ones as well) there
is a 'plug' shaped rubber seal which sits under the cap lid.
it is held in place by a lip that stretches over a round
shaped (spring loaded?) disk.
so when the cap is closed and latched the rubber plug (appropriately)
plugs the hole on the bottom part of the cap...which is the
filler neck (the filler hose and gas tank are below)
there is a body grommet, but that protects/seals the hole in the body deck
and the filler cap assembly goes into the grommet.
Am I articulating clear? trying to explain w/o hand motions! ;-)
