I had a similar problem last year. I had the transmission out three times
before I found the source of the problem. When you have the transmission out,
check to see if the pilot bushing in the flywheel is loose. If the bushing
drops out when you take the flywheel off, this is likely the cause. Previous
attempts to repair included all the hydraulics, the taper pin, lubing the
cross shaft, changing the setting of the slave clylinder piston, even
checking the clutch pedal itself.
To fix it you will have to secure the bushing in the flywheel. The proper way
to do this is cause for debate among the listers. Either knurl the bushing
slightly by putting in a vice to rough up the sides or tack the bushing into
the flywheel by using a nail punch around ther perimeter of the bushing.
Either way, you must be careful not to use too much force which will distort
the bushing and ruin it.
Let us know what you discover. Good Luck!

I have a similar problem with a '75 TR6. It has a new clutch and sticks
along it's engagement stroke when the engine is running. It operates
smoothly with the engine off. Hydraulics seem solid and the engagement
point is well off of the floor. I've been told that it's a broken fork pin,
so it will come out tonight.
