Hi Dimitri
The seat slide is made of steel. I'm pretty sure the finish is a plating,
possibly a dull chrome over nickel. I've bead blasted a set and powder
coated them in aluminum and they look great. Paint will not stick to the
surface unless it is primed and the primer probably won't stick unless it is
roughed up and etched or an etching primer used. I would sand blast, bead
blast or sand the surface, etch, prime and then paint. The paint and primer
should be compatable.

Subject: Seat Slide
| Hi, i'm a proud TR6 '70 owner but i have a little problem. Trying to
restore
| my car in its original condition if faced this problem :
|
| what material is the original seat slide made of ? is it in alu or steel
and
| is the original color black or just natural ?
|
| I started wondering when i tried to paint it black, the (car)paint (once
dry)
| had no grip on the slide, it almost fell of it
|
| Can anyone give me an answer ?
|
| Thanks.
