I finally used Nelson Riedel's docs on carbs to remove one of my carbs this
weekend. They were a huge help!!!!!!! Ends up the o-rings on the bottom
plugs are shot. I used some makeshift ones from Sears until I can get my
order in to TRF or wherever, and so far there is no leaking. I did manage
to over tighten and shear off one of the screws that hold the spring to the
throttle shaft. After a deluge of loud cursing I found a makeshift screw to
hold it in place, something else for the order. Now the car isn't stinking
up the house. We brought home a 10 pound baby girl last Saturday, Sydney
Kathryn Lane, and my wife is much happier with out the gas smell (and to
have that big baby out).
After this first small attempt on some engine work, I cant wait till I move
next year, get the three car garage, and really dig into the engine. There
are multiple gaskets that are leaking and need replaced. Plus it will give
me a chance to pull the engine and get the whole thing repainted one color.
(Yeah Right! After I repaint all the rooms in the house and hang up the
decorations for my wife!!)
New question. Does anyone have any quick hints on brake lights? Mine don't
seem to be working. I have not checked anything yet, hopefully after I mow
the 12 inch tall lawn today I can take a peek at them. I am hoping it will
be a fuse since they are out of both sides, but all the other lights are
working. Do both sides go out if one bulb is burnt? I may have lost both
bulbs though. I have also disconnected the seat belt buzzer under the dash,
I don't know if this would effect anything. Again I have not looked at
anything yet.

Hi Chuck,
It's been over thirty years since my wife was pregnant, but I still
remember. My advice --- keep her happy. Sure glad I never had to carry a
child for nine months.
You don't want to sell your car. TRs are great for taking a baby for a
short ride to put them to sleep when it's your turn to care for the baby.
Probably the best choice of the three is to store it at my house. Just
bring it out here, make sure the insurance is in force and leave the keys.
If you've had the TR very long you know that they all leak whatever fluid
you put into them. The fuel leak you describe is probably the classic stuck
float valve. Last winter I wrote a three part note for future newsletter
and website articles on rebuilding the TR250/TR6 carbs. It's still in draft
form but I believe technically correct. I've put these drafts on the
Buckeye Triumphs website so you can download them
