Hugh:
I too, am converting to the Toyota truck calipers, (hence my quest for
the .750" rear cylinders) and really haven't given much thought to the
flare angles.....I haven't taken the time to measure the angles on all my
fittings, flaring tool, and brake parts, I'm just thinking that they're
all close enough to get mashed down and form a good seal ?!?!
By the way, I noticed during disassembly that at one time I mistakenly
put a bubble flared pipe into a rear wheel cylinder that should have
received a double inverted flare....and it worked all these years! So,
if that worked, I figure I'm good to go with my hodgepodge of AN-3,
Girling, Lucas, and Toyota hardware!
I'm also taking the opportunity to switch from silicone back to DOT 3/4
fluid in hope of finally getting a decent brake pedal. I've tried
numerous bleeding methods thru the years and have never gotten a pedal
like other TR6s I've driven.
I'll let you guys know how it goes regarding leaks and firm pedal.
