If you check the archives, you should find a lot of info on tires that
has been previously discussed. The most popular wheel upgrade for
Triumphs is the Panasport alloy wheel, which comes in 15x6, 15x7, and
now a new 16x7. The popular tire size for 15 inch wheels is a 205/70
or 205/65. Panasports are available from many sources. I got them
from K Speed in State College, PA. They are well respected, and are
very helpful from a technical perspective. I got my tires from the
Tirerack, a mail order place, who have great prices and a tremendous
knowlege of tires.
There are other wheels also available, in the same Panasport type of
style. These are usually cheaper and of lower quality I imagine. I
believe these are sold by Moss and Victoria British, and maybe TRF
also. And there are center-lock alloys also available in this style, I
believe only from Moss and Victoria British. I prefered the bolt on
wheels rather than the center lock because they are easier to deal
with.
If you have wire wheels now, you will have to remove your wire wheel
hub adapters and remove the wheels studs to install the longer ones
(wire wheel cars have shorter studs than regular bolt on wheel cars).
I did this on my car when I switched from wires to Pansport 15x6. Not
a hard job.
The 16x7 Panasport is the popular choice for great handling, allows you
to use a lower profile tire. And it looks great. Panasports come in
several colors also.
