Hello Fellow Listers,
I have a dumb question, but the solution is something I have wanted to
master for some time. My winter project here in Florida was to purchase
a tired 74 TR6 (with hardtop) as a companion for my 75 TR6 (it was
getting lonely and needed a play pal). The 74 won't start, it did about
7 months ago according to the Prev owner. It cranks over fine and has
plenty of fuel to the carbs. I have been using Dan Masters wonderful
book to help me diagnose potential spark problems but do not have the
knowledge to correctly replace the points. I admit it freely! I do
feel better now! I have replaced the coil and now want to replace the
points and condenser etc. The cap looks brand new. How do you go about
and replace the points on an original TR6 distributer? A long time ago,
one of my old mechanics practically yelled at me when I told him I just
bolted the points on, but he wouldn't teach me how to do it. By the
way, the car didn't run to well when I did it. Well it's time to check
this one off the life's todo list. Could someone give me a simple
explanation of how to do this simple procedure to a mechanical novice
who loves to tinker on LBC's.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I just got my membership and 6 pack sticker in the mail today
Yippie! Now, which car to put the sticker on......
