Ryan---Nothing seems to work as good or as reliably the 'bottle and
(clear) hose' for bleeding clutch or brake systems, at least for me.
The trick is to keep the bottle that you are bleeding the air/fluid into
HIGHER than the cylinder you are trying to bleed. This will keep the
fluid from "falling through," as you are now experiencing. I have found
no penalty for re-using this fluid, so long as it's reasonably clean.
On the large, worn bore in the pedal at the clevis pin, I would think it
better to fill the hole with weld, then bore it out and (bronze) sleeve
it to a size large enough to accept a new clevis. This way you can later
press out the bushing and replace it, should it develop play again over
time.
Adding plates to the side of the pedal will widen it to where a standard
push rod won't attach.
Nearly all high mileage TR's will have this done at some point. I'd do
it before clutch disengagement becomes a problem.
