Brake Warning Light

I've noticed that my brake warning light never comes on? How is this light
activated? Is its sensor on top of the brass brake line valve? When is it
supposed to come on?

Oh, and on a side note, I replaced the tires that were at least 20 years old
on my six today. I put some Pirelli P4000 205/70/15s on and wow what a
difference in the way to car drives and feels. I already miss the redlines
however :(   one really gets used to seeing those silly red stripes...
