When you rebuilt your system, did you replace all your brake hoses? What may
be happening is interior disintegration of a brake hose, maybe more than
one...The hose looks fine from the outside, but on the inside it can
partially collapse, or a piece of the inside wall can tear, creating a
"flap". The fluid flows fine going out to the brake caliper, but when it is
supposed to return (and the caliper release) the flap is pulled down and
effectively blocks the hose and impedes the flow.
The other thing that happens is that due to age, or maybe even a defective
hose, the inside of the hose constricts, impeding the flow back. Pedal
pressure gets the fluid past the constriction, but there's nothing to help
it return.
hope this helps!
