What can be done in this situation is take various
grades of emery cloth, coarse to fine, and turn the
crank each time 90 degrees til the ridge is removed
and smooth. This gives you about hundred-eighty
degrees of cloth working the journal. Also you blend
in the surface til smooth.
If you have or can borrow a dial indicator with a
magnetic base you can attach it to the block and have
a friend slowly turn the crank to see if you have any
distortion to the journal surface. This will give you
an idea as to the condition of your crank.
What shape the bearings that you are taking out may
determine if you can still use stock bearings or if
you need to go an oversized one.
Make sure to use a plenty of pre-lube on
re-assemble. Do only one journal at a time and give
it a couple of 360 turns after you torque it down
before moving on to see if you have binding.
This is a time consuming job this way but it will
can be done with good results.
Remember patience first and good it right the first
time.
