Well guys and gals....here is your requested update on my no heat situation
in my 74 1/2 TR6. I have now replaced the water/heat valve and cured the
leak problem. However, although I can feel the heat at the input hose and at
the output hose under the dash, the blower is throwing out only lukewarm
heat. The hoses are hot to the touch inside and outside the firewall. I
dont know whether my therostat is a winter, summer, or standard, but I now
have a new summer one ready to install, as I ordinarily only drive a couple
of days in the winter when its 35 to 40 degrees. Should I install a standard
(or even a winter) thermostat instead? Here in Iowa, the temps are 80 to 95
in the summer driving, and my car does have air, which I assume puts more of
a demand on the heating and cooling system. What really does the thermostat
do concerning interior heat for the car? Moss Motors has a tech tip which
says flush out the heater core with a garden hose to remove rust and any
blockage...could this be the cause of lukewarm heat? I also am checking my
air conditioning hoses and cold air hoses for any loose connections; however,
what I dont know is does the heater push heat through the hoses that are used
by 1) the cold air vents and/or 2) the air conditioning system? Where should
my heat be coming from under the dash? It does come out the demister vents
and is much warmer there than down by your left leg on the passenger side. I
dont feel or see any heat vent on the driver's side other than what exits
near the top of the "kidney pad" there. Should the heat be coming out of the
cold air vent or the vent pointing down at the brake/clutch area near your
knees? Help...the 55 degree weather wont last this week.
