The first Hawaiian built car, a strange lookin' electro held its
European premier in Geneva.
It is the brainchild of Jonathan Tennyson and before the show
they handed over the keys of the first sold SunRay to HELCO (the
Hawaii Electric Light Company.
The Sunray's average range is approx. 80 miles on a single
full battery charge. It has a top speed of 65 mph (around 100
km/h) and an optimum cruise speed of 35 mph.
Plans are now being finalized for an assembly and training
facility on the Hamakua Coast to assemble 5000 vehicles per year,
20 vehicles a day. There are plans to produce cars in Europe and
in Japan.
