This was the Volkswagen 1600 model, nicknamed "Zé do Caixão". Explanation: "Caixão", in portuguese, means coffin. The car was so nicknamed because of the four door handles and the boxy shape of the body...
"Zé do Caixão" is also the name of a brazilian terror moviemaker of the 60's and 70's, known in USA as "Coffin Joe".

This car was an ugly Brazilian version of the german Notchback. After Volkswagen do Brasil bought DKW-Vemag, this model was made (in the old Vemag plant). The VW 1600 was sold for only two years (1969-1970).
