The "Jipe DKW-Vemag" off-roader was launched in 1958, with permanent 4WD
system, two stroke three cylinder engine, 896cc and only
28hp. It looked very much like the German DKW Munga.
Two years later, the car was renamed to "Candango". No body
modifications were made, but a new engine (980cc, 50hp) was installed.
A front wheel drive version of the off-roader was soon created, called
Candango-2. The 4x4 version was known as Candango-4. They were available
either with soft or hardtop.
In 1963, the production of all Candango models ended - less than 8.000
were made.
