A two-seater racer, intended for public roads as well. It will be available from 1996.
For this car Renault Sport in conjunction with Hydro Aluminum (this is a division of Norsk Hydro as, Norway's largest industrial group and one of Europe's leading aluminium producers) started the Mosaic programme which resulted an all-aluminium structure chassis, claimed to weigh 40 percent less than a comparable steel structure. The car will be built at the old Alpine works so it will be the new Alpine in some ways.
The engine was taken from the Clio Williams: 4-cylinder, 1998 cc F7R engine which boasts a power output of 150 bhp (110 kW) at 600 rpm. The specification of this 16-valve engine for the Spider is identical to that of the production Clio Williams although it has been tuned for torque and 85 percent of maximum torque (186 Nm at 5400 rpm) is available as low down as 2500 rpm.
The engine in Spider specification complies with Euro 96 emission regulations.

Dimensions:
Length/ width/ height: 3810/ 1830/ 1280 mm, wheelbase: 2350 mm, curb weight 790 kg.

The car is Patrick le Quement's interpretation of the Nineties Lotus Seven.

As I mentioned previously there was a fantastic display of
