Lincoln-Mercury stylists drew it, Ghia built it: the Lincoln Futura was "
possibly the most bizarre car ever to run on the roads". The passengers sat
in twin transparent bubbles.
The public launch was held at a reception in New York's Central Park; the car
was driven there through the traffic. Imagine the reaction...
It was transformed into Batmobile by George Barris: it survives in this form in
an American collection of film cars.
