Dunsmore
Dunsmore Motor Traction is a one man band producing a tiny number of
utterly authentic Thirties sprorts cars. There's no compromise at all:
the bodies are steel framed, and covered in layers of thin ply and
fabric. Body panels like bonnets and mudguards are hand beaten aluminium,
and the axles ae live at the rear and beam at the front, drilled for
lightness and fitted with friction dampers and cart springs.
The chassis is supplied with every last bracket and hole finished, ready
to bolt together. The Dunsmore is usually suppliead as a rolling chassis
ready to be bodied either with the owner's own ideas or with Dunsmore
body panels and fittings.
A rolling chassis would usually cost around 4000 pound, and if You bought
the rest of the car from Bill Hynes it would cost about the same again.
The use of tall, thin steel taxi wheels with tight fitting mudguards and
big crossply tyres is the icing on the cake.
