Alpina is a German firm. They started back in the Sixties with modified BMWs but nowadays they are proud of the fact, that they became independent makers. So their product is not just a simple BMW-based car, it's a vehicle in it's on right.
In 1995 the company turned 30.
At the Salon they premiered two new models...
It's either a four-door-saloon or a two-door coupe based on the BMW 3series.
This car is based on the BMW 750i. The main feature is the Switch Tronic, a particularly intellingent version of automatic transmission. You'd switch between A - adaptive and S - Switch- tronic mode. In the latter mode as in Formula 1 at the press of a butten You decide which gear to use, and the car stays in that gear until You shift into the next one or reach a lower or upper rpm limit.
The engine could be familiar from the 8-based B12:
12-cyl, 5646 cc, bore/stroke: 86/81 mm, power 280 kW/381 bhp
at 5200 rpm, max torque 550 Nm at 4000 rpm.
Dimensions l/w/h: 4984 (or there is an optional
longversion: 5124)/1845/1391 mm, wheelbase 2930 (3070) mm. Curb weight: 2035
(2070) kg, max permissible weight 2495 (2530) kg.
Performance: 0-100 km/h: 6.4 sec, top seed: 280+ km/h (175 mph)
