Thanks for all the suggestions, guys.  The socket for the rear axle 
seemed like a good project, because I can just provide him with an 
axle nut and ask him to make a socket for it.  Some of the other 
ideas are a bit more like engineering projects with a machining 
component.  I don't think this is an opportunity for a "production 
run", more like just an item or two.  Whatever he makes will probably 
have to stay in his "portfolio" for a while for grading and showing 
off while looking for a job.  Depending on where his career takes 
him, there may be some opportunities for other MG stuff in the 
future.  I'm very proud of him and I think it will be cool having a 
machinist in the family.
