I've spent about that much, just in postage, simply trying to pay for a =

So wow, for an actual package, like with something important inside, =

Subject: [Zmagnette] Shipping car parts from England

The short version is, I am trying to figure out=20
the best way to have a package shipped to me from=20
England to New York. Read on for the gory details.

About 4 years ago, I purchased an exhaust system=20
from NTG. For comparison, the shipping was=20
  =A362.60 which I was told was the 10 - 15kg=20
rate. I am currently attempting to have=20
something shipped to me from a private party in=20
  the UK. The package is 127cm x 16cm x 10cm and=20
about 10kg. I am trying to figure out how to=20
have it shipped for a reasonable price. I don't=20
care how slow it is. I went to the royal mail=20
website, which has a link to parcelforce=20
worldwide. This seems to be where you have to go=20
to ship things more than 2 kg. I entered in my=20
data and got a quote of globalvalue service, 5-9=20
days, =A3104.20. I tried Fedex, which gave me=20
crazy quotes > $300 with a footnote that they do=20
not offer services from the origin or destination=20
city at this time. Not sure how they can say=20
that and still list a price. DHL came back with=20
  a message that they won't take a package longer=20
than 120cm. UPS Expedited showed a price of=20
  =A394.71. I then read about some "freight=20
  consolidator" services. I found=20
  parcel2go.com. There I got a quote for express=20
  saver service at =A346.40. Now, that's a little=20
more like it. Does anyone have any experience=20
with this service or others like it? Does anyone=20
have any experience with this sort of=20
international shipping? Words of wisdom are=20
welcome! I have bought things from the UK=20
before, but it was always from companies. They=20
would tell me the shipping cost and that was=20
that. This is the first time I have had to get=20
more involved in the process. Thanks.

  -Steve T.
