To the list:

A few more thoughts on trailers...

1. Tie Downs & D-rings. Make sure you bolt the D-rings to a frame rail
under the floor, and not just to the plywood. At the minimum, put a piece of
angle iron under it if there just aren't any frame rails where you need the
D-ring. A quick stop or minor oops, could rip washers right through the
plywood.

Also make sure you use substantial enough tie down straps. Are you trusting
your car to those $2 Chinese Costco specials?? Go for some serious 3" wide
ratcheting tie downs. and keep in mind that one will need to carry all the
load if the one on the other side breaks or loosens. Replace them when they
start to get frayed. Don't rely on your winch cable as a tie down.

2. Floor - Home Depot sells a water-based epoxy garage floor paint that
works GREAT. It comes in a white plastic bucket and is the best I've used.
Its available in a variety of colors, and you can even buy it in a clear coat
(which gets a little slippery, but makes clean up very easy). Use it right
over the plywood trailer floor and it looks great, and doesn't add the weight
that other floor coverings do. If you do have problems with hot, sticky
tires pulling up the paint, screw down some 12" X 12" pieces of aluminum
diamond plate where the tires sit...also helps you make sure you've loaded
the car correctly.

OK, I'll shut up now.
