I have always been told that motorcycle helmets were not allowed for auto
racing because they do not contain the same fire protection materials.
Seemed logical to me because fire is a lesser factor in motorcycle
incidents.  Although I hold a motorcycle license, I have not owned a bike or
bike helmet for years so I am not an expert.
