I just last year inherited the Model T roadster I help my father build back in
the late 50s, early 60s with flathead V8-60 power and model A axles with 40
Ford hydraulic brakes, 35 Ford K-H wire wheels. Dad mothballed it in the
corner of the garage for the last 15 years so the fuel tank rusted out and
brakes are all frozen, etc. Actually, it ought to be fully restored, since we
built it 40 years ago and the paint is flaking off the chassis. But I got it.
I also claimed his home built, spark ignition "teather racer", a real
treasure. The old "dope" is flaking off it too, but my friends tell me to
leave it alone. No problem, I've got plenty of projects to occupy my time.

I am the proud custodian of our family Corvair. I took my mom in Oct 1964
to the dealership for her to pick up here first "new" car that she had ever
owned. It's been in her garage ever since, I now own it and drove it from
SoCal to NW Washington some 5 years ago. It's all original, but cleaned up
and driven occasionally. Took it on a 150 mile jaunt yesterday to a Corvair
club meet. It'll never be sold, daughter is looking forward to taking over
custodianship in the future.
It really means a lot to me and my wife (we borrowed it for our honeymoon
nearly 34 years ago) and my mom (she's 93 and still living in her house in
Anaheim and get a kick out of hearing what we do with the 'vair).
Family things like this are IMPORTANT!
