Here are a few other period cold-air systems: Some fuel-injected Corvettes (starting in 1957 on the hi-perf units) had a rubberized hose that brought in cool air from beside the radiator. This was in response to research from Chevy. I also have a 1958 Almquist speed parts catalog with a "ram air" system for American engines that consists of two lengths of heater ducting hose and a round air cleaner that they attach to.
